German Cricket Club won the 2024 Cricket on Ice Tournament after beating Old Cholmeleians by 27 runs in the final played on Saturday 17th February.
The German Cricket Club began the day with a stunning display of resilience and skill. Despite the early setback of losing opener Philip Bächstadt (7) in just the second over, courtesy of a sharp stumping by Old Cholmeleians' keeper Nirav Patel off Stephen Gray's delivery, the German side refused to be deterred.
The momentum shifted dramatically when David Roberts (57no) and Michael Richardson (61no) took charge, orchestrating a magnificent 121-run partnership without conceding a wicket, laying the groundwork for a resounding victory.
In response, Old Cholmeleians endeavoured to chase down the target, yet they fell short, accumulating 112-7 within their allotted overs. Jules Schlagmann led the charge with a commendable 27 runs, but it wasn't enough to bridge the gap, ultimately leaving the team just shy of victory by the same margin.
The teams competing in the 2024 edition of the Cricket on Ice Trophy were:
