Get Ready for Cricket on Ice 2026

11.–14. February 2026 in St. Moritz

As winter tightens its grip across the Alps, prepare to witness something truly extraordinary this February: the return of Cricket on Ice — probably the most unique cricket tournament in the world.

From Wednesday 11th to Saturday 14th February 2026, the frozen lake in St. Moritz, Switzerland, will once again be transformed into a cricketing arena. With its snow-capped peaks, icy surface, alpine air and international flair, this is a sporting event like no other.

What Makes Cricket on Ice So Special

Unlike any other cricket tournament, Cricket on Ice replaces manicured outfields with flattened snow on frozen ice — turning the frozen lake of St. Moritz into a wicket. It merges the elegance of traditional cricket with the raw beauty of the alpine winter.

Each edition draws players, fans and supporters from around the globe — a melting pot of cricketing cultures and winter-sport enthusiasts. Whether you’re a seasoned cricketer, a curious spectator, a winter adventurer or simply someone in search of the extraordinary, Cricket on Ice delivers an experience that stays with you.

Beyond just sport, the event reflects a committed approach to sustainability: energy-efficient measures & renewable energy use, reusable materials and responsible waste management.

In a world increasingly conscious of climate impact, Cricket on Ice shows how tradition and environmental awareness can go hand in hand.

Expect tradition-steeped British flair to clash with continental grit, youthful energy from the Swiss outfits to challenge seasoned pros, and underdog tales on the frozen wicket.

A Legend Joins: Commentary by Henry Blofeld

One of the most exciting announcements for 2026 — legendary cricket commentator Henry “Blowers” Blofeld OBE will lend his unmistakable voice and wit to Cricket on Ice. Over four days, spectators on-site and online will get to enjoy his commentary, blending storytelling, insight and nostalgia.

To top it all off, Mr Blofeld will deliver an after-dinner address at the tournament dinner on Saturday 14th February — a fitting tribute to the union of cricketing heritage and alpine grandeur.

Tournament Dinner, Community & Charity

Cricket on Ice is more than bat and ball — it’s community. The 2026 event culminates in an elegant Tournament Dinner at Hotel Laudinella, starting at 19:00 on Saturday 14 February. Guests will share a four-course meal, enjoy speeches, camaraderie, and a raffle — with proceeds supporting the continued development of the event and its chosen charity, the Ruth Strauss Foundation

It’s a perfect occasion to celebrate the spirit of sport, friendship and philanthropy — in surroundings that are as exclusive as they are stunning.

A Sustainable, Responsible Event

In a world where winter sports and natural ice are increasingly threatened by climate change, Cricket on Ice stands out as a model of responsible event-management. By switching from gas-powered heaters to electric solutions, powered — in part — by solar panels, the organisers have committed to reducing CO₂ emissions.

Even catering on the ice follows eco-conscious principles: bamboo plates and cutlery, minimized waste, and a preference for local suppliers. Travel-wise, players and spectators are encouraged to use Switzerland’s efficient rail network — meaning less emissions and more time to admire the mountains.

By combining sport, nature and sustainability, the tournament becomes more than a spectacle — it becomes a statement: that we can love tradition and look after our planet at the same time.
