Introducing Duncan Hart

The next on our list of introductions to our team of officials at the Cricket on Ice Trophy 2026, is Mr Duncan Hart. Duncan shared a few words of introduction with us as you will read in this article.

"I’ve followed England overseas in 26 Test matches — and, by luck rather than skill, happened to witness 15 wins, including the 2010–11 Ashes victory in Australia", says Duncan.

Duncan's umpiring journey began with online study during COVID, and once cricket restarted, he has officiated in the Surrey Women’s Premier Division and up to Kent County Division 1.
These days he mostly picks up the odd appointment — school games, random charity matches, and fun, friendly fixtures.

"Which is probably why I’m here on ice in St Moritz, all thanks to John telling me how brilliant it is!", Duncan adds.

Off the field, Duncan co-owns a pub in New Cross, South East London, called The Shirker’s Rest. "All are welcome, and I hope to see you down there if you ever visit London", says Duncan invitingly.
Duncan also works for a Foundation that invests in clean energy across Africa and South Asia and is a Portsmouth FC season ticket holder. A lover of non-league football, Duncan is a volunteer at Peckham Town Football Club and he adds,  "I can cycle to the Oval in ten minutes, so naturally I’m a Surrey member. Up the Rey!"

Why are you suited to umpire on ice?

Duncan ends by saying, "Judging LBWs in thermal underwear on a frozen pitch? Keeping cool is part of the job — I’m only getting icier!"

You can meet Duncan at Cricket on Ice 2026 (11-14.2.2026).
